Happy New Year!

Hi all,
Well Summer has finally kicked in, had a few rainy days over Christmas but has been great since. We have had 2 weeks off work which has been great and we even managed to do a few things (apart from the usual eating and drinking far too much) like canoeing, body boarding, cycling and much to Simon's delight even a bit of walking! Back in work tomorrow (7th) for a few weeks then off in Bertha again, who by the way has been pimped, see below pic. It was very odd having a hot Christmas and I cant say im convinced, dont think its the same without crappy weather and hot dinners, and family of course!!

A pimped out Bertha, poor old girl was getting a bit like a greenhouse inside so trying to cool her off a bit by tinting the windows, luckily managed to talk Si out of doing it himself.

Our little Christmas Tree, and Si was so pleased to find some Jaffa cakes in the English shop he scoffed the whole lot (well I might have helped a little bit!)

Our friends Bo and Bernice were kind enough to adopt us over Christmas (poor girls, we even made them play Cranium) Sipping on some strawberry daquiri's on Christmas Eve.

The Pohutukawa tree (NZ Christmas tree) They are everywhere, lining the coast  and look so pretty with bright red flowers.

Pics from our post Christmas cycling outing in the Karangahake Gorge not too far from where we are staying. Was the first good day over the holidays so thought we would make the most of it but we both ended up with very sore bums though, now I remember why i dont cycle!

Went Canoeing in the harbour at Ongare point, and found this little spot where Si could do some fishing. This was before i fell in at the exact spot where half hour before we had sat and watched the mother of all stingrays swimming about, got a little bit scared!! Photo of me sunbathing is just to prove that I am actually here, Si hasn't killed me off yet!

Doing a bit of body boarding at Waihi beach, waves have been pretty good here recently so started to go down for a swim after work on hot days which is really great. Dont know why we didn't live by the sea all along!!

Anyway I hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas and New year, we are looking forward to finishing work and going on our travels some time end of Jan/ beginning of Feb so will have some better photo's for you all then ( I hope) Till next time...
